 Students will be able to perform music who's parts move independently from each other.

I can:  play my part independently from the sections around me.  I can explain what "polyphony" is.

I can: Play music while utilizing crescendos and decrescendos.  I can Produce a "concert G" on my instrument.

Objectives: Students will be able to interpret and perform music written using "pick up notes." Students will be able to count, clap, and perform on their instruments a variety of rhythms, including eighth notes. Students know at least two major works associated with the composers "Rossini" and "Sousa."  Students can read and perform music using 2/4 time signatures.
I can: Read and perform music in 2/4 time.  I can tell you 2 pieces written by Rossini and Sousa.

 Students will be able to interpret and perform music written using "pick up notes." Students will be able to count, clap, and perform on their instruments a variety of rhythms, including eighth notes.

I can: Play my instrument at f, mf, and p loudness. i can explain how a "pick-up note" works, and perform pick-ups on my instrument.
